Cecile is arrested before the girls have a chance to tell her about their trip to San Francisco. Delphine was especially eager to see Cecile’s reaction to the trip and her resourcefulness. Has the author drawn the character vividly enough that you can imagine her response?
(I think that’s good writing, if we’ve been told enough about a character that we can write the next scene on our own!)
What do you think Cecile’s reaction would have been?

Based on the author’s portrayal up to this point in the book, it seems that Cecile won’t care one bit about the girl’s trip or their excitement about what they had experienced.
what a let-down that would be for the girls, since they were so pleased with their outing.
