The park by my house
If you listened to the interview I linked to in my last post, you’ll know that Neil Gaiman got his inspiration for the book from a cemetery close to his house. I live near a large park and his story got me thinking about all the stories that could take place in the park. I also just finished reading Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick, part of which takes place in the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. There’s something really interesting and inspiring about setting a story in a special public place like a museum, park, or graveyard. I think it’s because I already have such interesting associations with graveyards and with the Natural History Museum. What about you?
